Ricoh Asia Pacific receives the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards 2017 for its sustainable business practices

SINGAPORE, 9 November, 2017 – Ricoh Asia Pacific have received the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards from the Global Compact Network Singapore. This award recognizes Ricoh for demonstrating excellence sustainability in the Sustainable Business Category. The awards ceremony which took place on 8 November was graced by the presence of Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Finance. Ricoh Asia Pacific is honoured and proud to be the first and the only Japanese Multinational Corporation in the Office Imaging Equipment & Solution industry receiving this prestigious recognition in Singapore on Corporate Sustainability.

Ricoh Asia Pacific’s sustainability journey began as early as 2004 by first inculcating the Eco Office concept into the office environment and since then, actively engage in the environmental conservation activities and the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint (SSB) with governmental organisations such as the Ministry for the Environment and Water Resources, National Parks Board, National Environment Agency, Public Utility Board and the Nature Society (Singapore).


Ricoh Asia Pacific is the pioneer and organizer who has initiated the annual Eco Action Day campaign in Singapore since 2007 to commemorate the World Environment Day. This year, Ricoh integrated the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as part of the campaign by launching the Eco Action Day Youth Challenge and Industry Roundtable. 


Globally, in April this year, Ricoh Group have newly established five materiality issues namely, Productivity Enhancement, Intelligence Creation, Quality of Life (QOL), Enhancement Zero-carbon Society and Circular Economy, to align its Three Ps Balance with the identified United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. By addressing these issues of materiality, Ricoh will set realistic targets based on these issues and reinforce the initiatives through its business to enhance a sustainable society.


As the first Japanese company to join the RE100, the world’s influential companies that are committed to 100% renewable power, Ricoh Group has committed to using a minimum of 30% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050. As the regional headquarter, Ricoh Asia Pacific took the lead to switch to the use of clean energy this year and by 2019, the regional office will be 100% powered using the renewable source.
